Verify your company domain
Prove your company owns its email domain, by connecting Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 as an admin, or with a DNS record.
A verified domain tells us your workspace speaks for the company. Each domain can be verified by one workspace only, and personal email domains like gmail.com can never be claimed.
Automatically, by connecting your directory
Settings → Domains has a Connect Google Workspace and a Connect Microsoft 365 button, the same ones as on the Directory page. If a button is greyed out, connecting isn't available yet; use a DNS record instead.
- Google Workspace: when a super admin connects Google Workspace while signed in as themselves, the admin's own domain is verified. Other domains in your Google Workspace are verified with a DNS record. To connect with a different admin's address, verify the domain with a DNS record first.
- Microsoft 365: when a Global Admin gives consent, the tenant's verified domains are verified here too (except the
onmicrosoft.comones). Started from Settings → Domains, you come straight back there and see them verified. - Google Workspace takes a few steps in your Google Admin console first, so its button opens the Google Workspace card on the Directory page, which walks you through them.
With a DNS record
- Go to Settings → Domains and add your domain, for example
acme.com. - At your DNS provider, add a TXT record with the name and value shown (the name is
_orgsigs.acme.com, so it doesn't touch your SPF or other records). - Click Verify. DNS changes can take a few minutes, sometimes longer. You can leave and come back.
You can remove the record after the domain is verified.
To stop using a domain, click Remove next to it and confirm. Its verification goes with it, so using it again means adding and verifying it again.
People who signed up on their own
If someone at your company made a personal signature before you set up the team, nothing breaks. Settings → Domains lists them under Personal signatures at your domain. Once your directory syncs, they get the company signature like everyone else, and their personal one keeps working until they stop using it.
Already verified by another workspace?
If your domain shows as taken, someone else verified it first, perhaps a colleague who set up a team earlier. Ask them to invite you to that workspace, or contact support and we'll sort it out.
