Common questions

Do I need an email disclaimer?
Usually a disclaimer isn't required by law, but many companies add one to say what should happen to misdirected or confidential email. Some countries do require company details in business email. In the UK, for example, companies must show their registered name, company number, place of registration and registered office address.
Is an email disclaimer legally binding?
A disclaimer can't make a recipient do anything on its own, but it states your intent and tells people what to do with an email that reached them by mistake. This tool gives common wording, not legal advice.
Where should the disclaimer go?
Under your signature, in small grey text. Copy it here and paste it at the end of your signature in Gmail or Outlook.
Do you keep what I type?
No. Everything is saved in this browser only, so it's still here when you come back. Start over removes it.
Can I add the same disclaimer for my whole team?
Yes. With WorkplaceSignatures, an admin adds the disclaimer to a template and locks it, so it appears on everyone's signature and only admins can change it.
